The Air Cadet organisation provides all young adults from the ages of 13 to 18 with an opportunity to develop a wide variety of skills and the ability to take part in activities that most young people can only dream about.
290 Squadron will help provide the skills and opportunities allowing you to achieve any of your goals in life. These skills you will learn to develop as a cadet within the corps include teamwork, leadership, discipline, communication and self-confidence.
These skills are taught and cultivated through many of the wide ranging activities the Corps has to offer. At 290 Squadron we expand on many of the Air Cadets core activities of flying, shooting, adventure training, sports, hill walking, canoeing and abseiling. As you browse further through our web site you will see the diverse range of activities and accomplishments that this squadron has achieved recently and in the past.
As an ex-cadet myself, the experiences and skills gained through the Air Cadets has not only helped me at every stage of my life to date, but formed friendships and experiences that will last a lifetime.
It is now up to you. If you want a challenge and wish to fulfill your full potential now and in the future then contact us today and live the corps motto…..‘Venture Adventure’
The Air Training Corps is one of the best youth organisations available to young people in the UK. Open to anyone between the ages of 13 and 18, we offer a range of activities unparalleled in this modern world and, because of our strong relationship with the Royal Air Force, there are opportunities available to our cadets that would not normally be available to teenagers.
I have been a member of 290 Squadron for nearly 20 years and am very proud that in 2006, became the Commanding Officer.
If you are thinking about joining 290 Squadron then I look forward to meeting you very soon. If you are just browsing then I hope that you have found what you are looking for and that you come back soon to see what we have been doing.
Flight Lieutenant Steve Manville RAFVR(T) Officer Commanding 290 Squadron ATC
